Title: Benefits about Ranking from Table-Top
Post by: Lucky Wolf on November 30, 2008, 06:15:35 PM
Just something for mention, if the STs would like to consider it.

In table-top, once a Garou had reached Adren and up, it became more difficult to frenzy and thrall. This would justify the bad ass ahroun elder having a better chance to resist frenzying on the drop of a hat because Joe-Bob said something about their mama. Is there already a house rule on this and if not, how about it?

It was normally listed as Cliath and Fostern had the same difficulty. An Adren had a +1 difficulty. An Athro had a +1 difficulty and needed an extra success to frenzy ( which made it that you needed an extra success to Thrall). An Elder had a +2 difficulty and needed two extra successes to frenzy, moving up the successed needed to Thrall.

Just something to throw out there. If it is not considered, my feelings will not be hurt by it.

The staff will discuss this at our next ST meeting.  More to come.

Unfortunately/fortunately (depending on who you ask) we're in an organization.
This type of ruling would impair our ability to travel or would become a logistical nightmare saying it exists here but not there

Bad ass elder ahrouns should have the willpower to offset the high rage they should have.
Its far more likely that an Elder has a higher willpower versus rage rating then a cliath and thus shows their ability to hold off frenzy.  Also there traits alone would be much higher showing their ability to withstand such a thing.
Of course there are of some tribes that believe frenzy is a tool *cough* get *cough* but even those elders have enough control to umm control it

Not a problem, I can understand that garou of higher rank have a chance to have a higher willpower.

If I were to pursue this topic, which I probably won't and will just leave it at that, is there a way to mention it to the OWBN organization?

Yep. You have a Council Rep on the Council Lists and STs on several lists who can bring any issue your game wants brought up. There is also an OOC list, though it is generally a much better idea to work through your STs rather than go off on your own.

That being said, I think Mike is entirely right on this one and that is how we deal with it at Hidden Flame. Generally people buy up their Willpower as they go up in ranks, one of the first things they tend to buy. If a character doesn't then it is seen as they aren't working on their self control and SHOULDN"T have a better chance at avoiding frenzy. I have actually seen on PC that didn't buy up willpower because he didn't feel his PC had been working on Self Control.

Ahroun also get some handy gifts to help offset their Frenzy problem.

Already aware of all the gifts and most of the merits that do something like that, but thanks for the heads up.
