Okay, just want to know if I am pissing anyone off. I've gotten about six growls within two weeks.

Anyone want to come clean so that we can talk about it out like adults?

There was talk of resetting them a couple of years ago, but they never were. The numbers you are looking at are the original numbers for each player. Guests are allowed to howl and growl too- anyone with an account on the forums can, so it could really be anyone.

For those who used to be around in the original days of RAtC, they used to be called "Props" and "Smite." The overall feature is called Karma, and it is a feature of Simple Machines, the software we use for our forums.

Do people think it's time for the numbers to be reset? If people are not happy with the feature, it can be disabled.

Unless I know what people are expressing approval or disapproval of, and why, the fact that people have made a note of one or the other is not really useful information, at least not to me.

Karma essentially boils down to an "I feel good about myself" or "I feel bad about myself" number that can't really be measured accurately for the reasons Conor stated.

For the time being, I've disabled Karma altogether. The numbers are still in there though, so if there are strong arguments to bring it back, we can, with or without resetting the totals.

The more I think about it, the more I think it should stay disabled. All it does is give people an (in all likelihood false) idea of how much they are liked and/or disliked in our game. There is no way to determine how many people howl/growl at you, nor is there any way to know how often or rarely each does.

Growls? Those little +/- things? I'm supposed to pay attention to them?

Since I can't tell why I get them, I can't use them to improve my board RP. I just ignore them.

Emmy what was it like 2 months ago I watched my growls go up by like 10 in 2 days or something like that? haha

I wore my growls like a badge
To me it means I was breaking minds and taking prisoners
