Hey, so I was reading the house rules, and I saw under army military rank you have an E-4 listed as corporal. This is only partly true. Most (90%) E-4s are specialists, and do not actually have authority over people of lower rank.
You should include both, because specialists are awesome.
-
it's like you said words in English but still no understanding. what?
-
I'm talking military talk.
Be aroused.
-
I'm standing to attention right now, sir.
-
I would restrict what types of "specialists" people could become (ie, no demolitions) but I'm not against the idea.
-
Its not that kind of specialist. Its just the name of your rank. Its essentially "You're a special private."
Its the Fostern rank of the military.
-
My understanding is that Specialist = "you have useful skills of some kind and we should pay you more for them than we do your average Private" but Corporal = "people occasionally listen to you, we have decided to formalize this and will consider making you a Sergeant some day."
Specialist is more a pay grade than a rank.
-
Very very few Specialists ever become Corporals before becoming a Sergeant. In fact, every Corporal I've known, was up to be promoted to Sergeant, but lacked the physical capacity, or couldn't pass their marksmenship tests and failed to meet the standard for Sergeant, but still needed to fill a leadership role... until some enterprising specialist is able to meet the standard set.
-
Huh! My understanding was that Spec. was basically the "you don't actually have any leadership skills but you sure are handy at [other thing]" slot.
I guess not.
-
Nah- its mainly where they put the massive backlog of new recruits, and either the ones who stay around, or the ones who are exceptional get to advance to the next level. There's this whole slotting system, where there can only be x-number of x-rank in a unit or section, so you either wait for your superiors to die or get promoted out of your way. Or leave the military.
-
It sure is better than being called a Third Class Petty Officer.
-
And that, right there, is why he plays a Ragabash.
::)
-
But aren't all naval officers petty?
-
I think what Vance means to say, is that all Naval officers are pretty.
Too pretty.
-
There is no such thing as too pretty. Especially when there are uniforms involved.
-
I once dated a flyboy. Mmmm flightsuits.
-
So what you are saying, Tom, is that in two years time I'll be too pretty?
>.>
<.<
-
Prettier... not pretty... but prettier.
Lets not get ahead of ourselves.
-
All non-commissioned officers in the USN have the word 'Petty' appended to their title so that their non-commissioned status is apparent.
Also, Commissioned officers have completely different names to represent the nautical field.
As to the insinuation you are making: I was once a petty officer. I do not consider myself now or ever to have been pretty.
You're thinking of Sonar Techs.
-
I think your pretty Shonn...
P.S. Don't kill me tomorrow.
-
Well, Tom, I still have all my Officer uniforms from ROTC...which are just the Standard issues....including the Whites :P
So I don't have to wait, per say.
-
*insert rape "joke" here*
-
....remind me never to play a character from the Navy who comes to meeting in uniform...
>.>
<.<
I'm not sure I'd survive.
-
...remind me not to play myself?
I think you're in worse shape with the Athro Galliard that's itching to kick the tar out of you for no apparent reason.
-
He's a Fianna....it's expected.
-
I think your pretty Shonn...
P.S. Don't kill me tomorrow.
You don't and I try every game. Why would I stop tomorrow?
-
...because tomorrow I'll think you're pretty?
You know for a pack that's been accused of not really contributing to the Sept, we sure do take a lot of agg... We're going to have rename our pack from Longest Night to 'Moar Health Levels'
-
Whoever accused you of such a thing is blind or stupid. Also, that pack name will forfeit your rights to your totem.
-
That was the discussion that took place after we killed Aden. That we weren't part of the Sept and only doing our own thing.
We were trying not to put our heads through concrete... but no matter. Such is the price without a Galliard, though you're a very nice impromptu Galliard. You're just always missing... mostly when awesome freaking plots are going on. I wonder if the two are related...
Maybe we'll duct tape our totem to one of us and use him as a shield...
-
I'd offer my services but there's a line...and this is now officially Way Off Topic(TM).
-
may I just add that ALL men in uniform are pretty...so very very pretty...or is that deicious? idk I get them confused lol :p
-
Mmm. Uniforms. I'll be over here now...
-
may I just add that ALL men in uniform are pretty...so very very pretty...or is that deicious? idk I get them confused lol :p
Lets just say "pretty delicious." :)
-
i second that...wait does this mean more men in uniform at game?
-
I, for one, would certainly not object! :)
-
Me neither! Women too. I am just all about the uniforms really
-
hey i never said either or wasnt fine by me :) just in uniform..more characters that dress in uniform!! :p
-
So I redact my previous statement and now want to make a character who was in the military...specifically so I can wear Uniforms to game....just to see people drool.
MUAHAHAHA!
-
Called Shonn pretty.
Died anyway.
