Title: Umbral photography
Post by: Alexander Amarandus van Bokkelen on July 14, 2010, 01:15:44 PM
Actually, this is just snapshots taken on infrared-sensitive film.  But it's pretty much what I've always imagined the Umbra to look like.  Especially this one (http://www.treehugger.com/infrared-tree-lake.jpg).

That's pretty awesome. That is now my mental image.

I always though of the umbra as being a huge blur with a vague sense of coloration that requires interpretation to understand. As if someone removed the outline of everything you'd see and then blurred the space between things.
