So... say you're a Fianna and you want the Gift Spear Dancing, which gives you an unparalleled ability to balance on the smallest of surfaces with an athletics check to balance that lasts for the scene.
BUT- say some Adren Shadowlord jackass decided one day to enter the Thrall of the Wyrm and merrily cut you asunder with his grand klaive and gave you some severe spinal damage when you were a young Cliath...
So now, you can't make a balance check without spending a willpower, otherwise you auto fail...
To use Spear Dancing, must you spend both the gnosis and a willpower to have awesome balance for the scene (and spend another willpower to attempt another crazy balancing feat), or will the gift of Gaia make your stupid battle scar not happen for that scene?
-
That's... that's hard.
If it's a basic gift, I'd lean no, and if it's an intermediate gift, I'd lean yes.
But I wouldn't know how to call that for sure even then. (Elder level gift clearly works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRd9PGmAQUE )

I know! Isn't it?

*looks at 'Catfeet'* *looks at Tom* *looks back at Catfeet* *quirks an eyebrow*

Spear Dancing is MUCH cooler than Cat feet. Catfeet= bonus traits and no Ouchies on long falls. Spear dancing, I get to jump on the tip of someone's sword, or a slender tree. I was wondering how that gift would work, if I got it before I got Catfeet...

In my opinion, you'd still have to meet the requirements of the Battlescar, since Spear Dancing allows you simply to balance where you wouldn't normally be able to, it doesn't -improve- your balance.
-
which could mean spending a willpower each time I attempt to balance on something?
-
Yes. Sucks to be you.
-
I guess its all part of having a terrible character. ;-)

*cough*CATFEET*cough*

haha I know, I know Kat... I know...

I argue the "decided" part of your argument
I almost argued the "jackass" part too but then decided against it
-
I'm pretty sure the term "decided to Thrall" in of itself, erodes any credibility in anything I said afterward. :-D
