Guys remember that you can choose to make your punches, claws etc. less lethal

You can choose to make your claws lethal instead of agg.
You can choose to make some weapon that usually does lethal be bashing. 

this only goes for Melee or Brawl.
Projectile weapons cannot be adjusted

Doesn't that kind of make the gift "Mercy" useless?

No cuz Mercy makes them do bashing not lethal.
