The text for Hand Blade (SFTB) says "use the statistics for a klaive if in doubt."
I am in doubt.
What are the statistics for a klaive? More relevantly, what are the statistics for the "weapon" gained from this gift?
-
Dan would be a good reference for this. I remember Tarl having this Gift.
-
Ok, so... LotW:
"A klaive gives three bonus traits in combat and inflicts an extra level of aggravated damage. Because it’s silver, werewolves cannot soak this damage."
Does this mean it deals 1+1=2 because it's a tiny knife that only deals one to begin with? Or does it deal 2+1=3 because it's a klaive that gives 3 bonus traits, and tiny knives don't give 3 bonus traits?
-
Two, or three?

No, just kidding, the answer is: 3

Thanks. (Hooray! The melee fighter will be worthwhile during the Leviathan fight after all!)
-
Well, I looked at the Dagger-Klave I have for Pebe. Since it originated with another game, I've never questioned it's stats.. that and klaves (not grand ones) all have the same traits/damage no matter the size because of the war spirit bound inside.
-
Yep. But the gift text isn't terribly clear other than saying "use the statistics for a klaive if in doubt" and "including dealing aggravated damage as the Garou’s claws are part of the weapon," so I thought I'd check.
I look forward to damaging a certain Leviathan with this gift in the very near future.
-
Nod, I'll put it as something to look into a simple house rule for the gift's use

A good rule of thumb is that a Klaive is based on a shortsword, and a Grand Klaive is based on a Long Sword.
