Woot! Just confirmed last night that I do have the 19th off, so I shall be there, and I have the urge to cook. Thus, here is the projected menu, as it stands now, and later i'll post up a list of what sort of ingredients i'm going to need, after doing some planning.
Appetizer
Veg plater w/ homemade chive dip.
Entree
Grilled Chicken Breast, Marinated in a beer based soy marinade, accompanied by a rice pilaf
Desert
Bannana's Foster, if I can get the right materials. If not, I'll wing it. And kat's bringing brownies.
The two things i can think of right off that bat that i'm going to need to pull off the desert is bannanas that are fairly ripe, as in just going a touch brown, and brandy.
Also, if anyone has any additions or changes they would like to see to the above, just post it up here!

Emmy will also be leaving early. Around 6:30.
-
D'AW We'lll miss you Emmy. :'(
Also, Pat should be coming, the Cub.
Morgan and Pat are leaving NERO to come and then going back to NERO, so they might be late/have to leave early and Pat may be covered in black paint.
-
PK will be coming, but also leaving early.
-
I can only show if it's raining pretty hard. Other than that I'm committed to work.
-
So my best guess based on the Evite and who may not be responding but will probably show up is 13 people. See notes below. If anyone knows they will be bringing someone else, i.e. a new player, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE reply here so Dave can get a final number down as soon as possible :)
Marc
Joe
Mike
Jason
Emmy - Leaving early (6:30)
Danny
Kat
Morgan
Pat
Andrew
PK - Leaving early (Time?)
Ken - Leaving early (Time?)
Dave - Don't forget to count yourself!
-
Okay, ingredients list. I need people to chime in with what they can bring/get, so I can change plans or add to my shopping a little. Please reply as soon as possible.
Chicken (duh) Chicken breasts, we need enough for everyone at least, maybe with a few extra, just in case.
Carrots, White Onion, Celery, Grape Tomatos, any other veg that people may want to snack on.
sour cream
Ripeish Bananas, 1 bunch
2 cans of beer, not dark beer. even budwiser will work, its only for the marinade.
Fresh ginger
Brandy
-
I'll have to leave around 5, before dinner. So when planning amounts, count me out. I'll eat at the party I'm going to that night.
-
I will get a bunch of celery, 3-4 large white onions, bunch of carrots (not "baby" carrots?) and some fresh ginger on Saturday morning. Probably the sour cream and the tomatoes as well?
-
My attendance is getting sketchier by the day, but I'll try to be there.
Dave you know the situation.
-
baby carrots or normal carrots. depends on what people want to munch on. I'm going to pick up the chicken and beer saturday morning. Its looking like I'll have to change desert, but i think i may be able to do something on the fly, dependin on how busy work is tommorow.
-
I can do the beer, the bananas and the brandy... if you still want to do the dessert Dave? for about 12 people is one bunch of banana's sufficient? how much brandy do you need?
-
One bunch of banana's should be just fine
-
How much brandy (so I know what size bottle to buy)?
-
hrrrm. I need about 4 oz or so, as it gets mixed with the rum I already have. So a small bottle will do just fine.
-
Will do... Assuming you've got the Pilaf under control, what about the biggest and most expensive component... The chicken? Are you planning on buying it and collecting some money at game to offset the cost? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to help get everything nailed down before tomorrow :)
-
I was going to pick up the cost myself. A large pack of chicken breasts isn't to terribly expensive, but i'm not going to say no if people donate a few bucks back. you said you have the beer? And yeah, i already have all the components for Pilaf, I think. Only thing I may be missing is bay leaf, and thats not that expensive.
-
Yup, Beer is on me :)
-
By the way Dave, you know there's a really really nice meat store right near me, right? Not horribly expensive either :)
-
I bring drinks as usual
-
Dave, what would be an acceptable alternative to white onions? I was at the store closest to me (the biggest one, anyway), and they seemed to have every other variety except white.
Currently, I am bringing celery (1 bunch or celery hearts, whichever is cheaper), I packet baby carrots, fresh ginger, sour cream and grape tomatoes (2 punnets).
-
I defer to Dave, but just in case he doesn't get to reply before you go shopping... Yellow onions or sweet onions should make reasonable substitutes I would think.
-
What marc said. Yellow and Sweet will both do just fine.
